More Politics

For some reason, I just haven't been in the mood to read fanfics lately. This has lead to me having to find other things to do, and what with elections coming I've been turning to politics.

Yesterday it was statscan, today it's YouTube and various campaign commercials. I ended up following some of the various suggested links though and came across a hilarious Rick Mercer video where he takes the (then) Prime Minister to Canadian Tire to buy that window saran wrap. Sooo funny. :)

Hahah, awesome! I love that they go to Canadian Tire, and it actually makes me see Paul Martin as less...dull. I still remember on This Hour Has 22 Minutes when Rick Mercer (I think) took Jean Chretien out for poutine at some fast-food place. Gold, man. GOLD. Jean Chretien = awesome.

I was out of the country for most of Paul Martin's time as PM so I don't actually have very many feelings for hi, but Jean Chretien? I have a feeling that the reason we kept him in office so long was because people had too much fun imitating him. I mean, that accent? And the things that would come out of his mouth (the proof is the proof!)? He was just so much fun.

I just loved Jean Chretien's tendency to say things that no one else would say (re: George Bush has a steep learning curve), and not blindly follow the Americans. Also, his love of poutine and his ability to punch someone who tried to pie his face.
