OMG collapses
So, it's been a crazy past few days. I found out about the iTunes mix up for SGA yesterday around noon.
The thing is, I take being an uploader/hoster pretty seriously, and since I run a few SGA download groups off of livejournal, I feel like I always have to be the first to have things up. amireal said she didn't really have anywhere to host it, I pounced. The thing is, I didn't get the link for her copy until around 10 last night. I tried curling it to my site, but the command I had wasn't working for Dreamhost, and for some reason after a bit Netfirms kept disconnecting or not connecting at all. So I ended up staying up until about 1:30 waiting for the file to finish downloading so I could start uploading it right away.
Then I set my alarm to go off at 3:30 (when the download should have finished) and *tried* to go to bed. So didn't work though. When I woke up with my alarm, it was to see that the upload *hadn't* finished yet, and still had about 20 minutes left, so I started making posts so I could just click buttons when it was done. Of course I was on such autopilot that I totally forgot thatamireal told me it was a .wmv file not a .avi file as I had assumed (she had uploaded it as a .doc file). Oddly enough, this didn't seem to stop people from watching it. Of course, even when the file finished uploading and I could finally go back to bed, I wasn't tired any more. I got a ridiculously little amount of sleep last night.
I probably would have been falling asleep at work, except I'm pretty sure I spent about 60% of my time there checking my e-mail and responding to some of the comments being left (I feel like such a bad employee :S).
Also, while I may not have been the first to post the episode, I was at least one of the first to post a converted copy, and the first to post it to the groups I did (I can't speak for all groups, obviously). This has lead to a *lot* of downloading on my server. I'm pretty sure in this day alone, I've at least doubled the amount of bandwidth used for the *entire* year. About 150 people have told me (and those are just the ones who commented) that they were downloading from my site within the past two day, and quite a few people mentioned grabbing other things I had up too. I'm still waiting for the info to refresh, but I might need to be sitting down when it happens. Thank god I've got over 2Tbs of bandwidth a month (An amount I haven't even cumulatively hit for all of the previous year).
And the really sad part? I *still* haven't had a chance to watch the ep myself yet. I'm torn between watching the ep now, getting some work done on a webpage, replying to the gazillions comments/e-mails I have waiting, or trying to convert the encrypted file to a better size. I think I'll give the encrypting thing 10 minutes, then I'll probably blow everything else off and watch the ep, since people keep leaving me squeeing comments, and I really don't want to be spoiled.
