Most of what irritates me in the fandom-specific stuff is the sheer laziness in fact-checking. :P I remember when I first got into the HP fandom, and I would see people complain about how people would write Harry as American, or at least, not as a Brit, and I'd roll my eyes. But now that the tables are turned, I understand it a lot more. Word on the beta thing. Something that the author don't even realize can really throw someone out of a fic. I remember once reading a QaF fic written by a Brit, and she had Brian "throw down some notes" to pay for his lunch. In my head, the "notes" were bright pink IOU notes. I know that Brian fell on some hard times in the series, but that's just silly :P I *know* that in the UK they use pound notes, but still, it throws you off.
Newfie (and I use that word with the utmost love and respect) Do people take offence to the term Newfie? I didn't know that. I use it all the time. :S Because how can you *not* love Newfies.
