I don't know what it is, but while I still seek out longer fics, I've found myself having trouble reading them. It's like my attention span just shrunk. It seems that as I read these longer fics I think to myself "Ok, hurry up now" or "OMG I can't believe I'm only half way through!" Even the longer fics that I read and loved, I'm not able to go back and read them again (at least not all of it at once, I'll sometimes just read parts of it though). Oh man, this is absolutely the same for me. It's kind of sad. :(
