Yeah, McKay/Anyone is a lot easier to sell, although I'd probably laugh at McEmmagan since it's kind of long.

Porne is the most awesome ship name, and it's the example I use for non-fandom people (which generally scares them, but *I* have fun).

I had never heard of meshing up names until I had been in fandom for a at least a year. I know a couple people used the term Temmett for Ted/Emmett, but I always just stuck with B/J. Although I have heard some of the new QaF fandom refer to them as Brustin, and I want to cry every single time. :(

Sparky is, to me, totally off the mark anyway because I've never seen any sparks there.
Huh, I never thought about that being where they got their name from. Personally I just think of the Firefighting Dalmation that shows up at schools and parades to tell kids to be careful around fires.
The first time I heard the term was in an e-mail from a Yahoo group from a John/Elizabeth fan saying how she hated the term, because it sounded so childish, and those two are both leaders and much too mature for such a name.

And you don't have to bother trying to talk *me* out of Sheppard pairings. The *only* person I'll ever read John in a relationship with is Rodney. Sometimes Rodney and Carson, but that's about it.
I personally think he'd drive Elizabeth crazy because they'd have trouble working together afterwards, and she'd take it a lot more personally when he disobeyed her orders.
And while I think Teyla showed an initial spark of interest in John, she soon realized that he's a huge dork, and now treats him like a brother whom she sometimes has to remember isn't still a child (even if he acts like it).
