Fun Day

So I have a bunch of comments to reply to from my last entry, but I probably won't get to them until tomorrow. I also want to add a bit more to that post, after seeing [livejournal.com profile] bzzinglikeneon do a sum up of her fandom life too.

But I just wanted to make a post, because I had a really fun day today. I'm not sure what it's like elsewhere, but in Canada, March 31st is government year end, so for the past month, the Customer Service Centre where I work has been going crazy trying to make sure that things are ordered and delivered (or at least billed) by today. Because it's such a crazy time, management had most of this month as casual dress, so we all got to wear jeans to work, and today, was sort of a party day. They had a music theme, and encouraged everyone to dress up. I feel like a big stick in the mud, because I didn't dress up, but since I was gone all weekend, I just didn't have time to arrange anything. I did bring my sax in though, and set it up as decoration for my cubical.

Then at lunch, they turned the meeting rooms downstairs into music rooms. One had games of Guitar Hero going on, I spent most of my time in the karaoke room, but did take time to visit the Dance Dance Revolution room. Then when I got back upstairs, the supervisors went around with ice cream and a big cart of toppings to put on it (I put caramel sauce, peanuts, sprinkles and whipped cream on mine, but there were a ton of other options).

I work in the Contracts department, which is technically part of Customer Service, but it's on the other side of the building, and for the most part it's on it's own, so my supervisor had a little something planned for us too. At around 3 we all went into the caf and tried to break open a couple pinatas. I was a bit fat loser, who not only missed the pinata, but managed to hit *myself* in the *stomach* while I missed.

Then when I got home, I was very proud of myself, I went through my huge piles of papers (seriously, one was taking over my desk, and one was an entire drawer of my desk) and put a ton of stuff in the recycling. You can actually see the top of my desk! It's a miracle! (Ok, credit where credit's due, my mom cleaned it this weekend while I was gone, I just got rid of my pile of papers).

And lastly, it's my aunt and uncles 25th wedding anniversary coming up, and my mom wanted to play some of the songs that were popular the year they were married, 1983. I have a list of the top 100 songs, do any of you have any of these? I don't use any P2P programs, and I only have one comm on my flist with music, and it's not really a music comm. I'm looking them up, but if anyone here has any of these, and would be willing to upload it, or has a suggestion of a place to go, that would be awesome.

I have a bunch of these...unfortunately nearly all of them are on vinyl, which doesn't do you much good. :P

I know I have "Dirty Laundry" someplace, and it's a good bet Greg has the Culture Club stuff...I'll have to ask him.

The problem I have is getting them uploaded, since for some really aggravating reason I can't seem to reach any of the usual upload sites. :| I can email them to you?

Well, I'm not THAT awesome. I just remembered that I never did find my Don Henley GH CD that had "Dirty Laundry" on it. :| And Greg's Culture Club stuff is at his work. *huffs* Is tomorrow too late for those?

BUT I did find the "Hits of the 80s" CD that I got at a yard sale for a buck that happens to have "Electric Avenue" and "Goody Two Shoes" on it. Go me. :P

Then I can have Greg get the Culture Club stuff and Thomas Dolby.

My sister is on Napster and can probably get some of this tomorrow, too, depending on what's left after the rest of your flist chips in. :)

I'm sure I have some of these but I'll have to check when I get home from work =)

I only had a baker's dozen of what you were looking for, but there you go (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=3MXJLAR1). :)

[identity profile] equusentric.livejournal.com 2008-04-01 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I emailed you a few and asked Greg to see if he had the Stray Cats stuff on his work computer. Everything else that I had or could get you've already got now.

[identity profile] equusentric.livejournal.com 2008-04-01 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, turns out he only has the one Stray Cats song, which I just emailed. He is turning out to be useless. :P

I snagged paradise city's set to see what she was sending you and she had four of what I was gonna send...so I think this is all I've got.

Just glad I could pitch in. *smooches*

[identity profile] equusentric.livejournal.com 2008-04-02 05:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Did you get the first two I sent (Adam Ant and Eddy Grant)? I got a "file too big" warning one of them, so I figured I'd better check.

[identity profile] equusentric.livejournal.com 2008-04-04 04:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I sent them separately, but for some reason the file sizes are kinda high. I'll try it again right now...if you don't get them in a few hours LMK and I'll see if I can figure out how to make them smaller.

[identity profile] equusentric.livejournal.com 2008-04-04 05:14 pm (UTC)(link)
My sending email is really slow. :P Oh, I did sent "Stray Cat Strut" too...if you didn't get that one LMK and I'll try again. I also have Golden Earring's "Twilight Zone" but it's a live version so I don't know if you want that.

Looking at that list reminds me of just how eclectic music really is, because they're so different. And a lot of those songs are really kind of awful LOL.

My fave off the whole list is probably Thomas Dolby. I really love that song, especially "She's tidied up and I can't FIND anything!" XD
