So, there's an election coming up. I... really couldn't care less. Nothing real is going to change and IMO it should have been called long ago.
Ever since I was old enough, I've always made sure to vote (well, ok, I didn't last election since I was in China and was given bad information which left me too late to mail in my vote) but this time? Well, I'll still vote, but there isn't really anyone I want to vote for.

Ha, if only we had a lesser evil, or even a some what evil. Instead all we have is super boring.

Unfortunately, I have to disagree with you re: nothing will change. While I don't have much hope for radical positive changes, I suspect that if we get a majority Conservative government, then there will continue to be additional changes for the worst. Given the recent announcements about cuts to arts funding, censorship of Canadian film, and proposals for the self-regulation of the food industry and airline safety, as well as general foot-dragging with regards to the environment, I fear what else the Conservatives will do should they actually become a majority government.

See, the thing is, I really doubt that we're going to end up with a Conservative majority. Sure no one likes Dion (who would, he's an idiot) but they're still the Conservatives main rival, and enough people will vote for them based on that. Plus, if the Liberals lose they'll get rid of Dion as fast as they did Paul Martin.
The NDP have done a decent job this past year too, so they're likely to get a decent amount of seats, and I'd be shocked if the Green Party didn't get at least one seat.

I'm not as optimistic as you are on this. The Conservatives have gained a lot of interest in some sectors.

Really? May I ask why, out of genuine interest?

I think for me, he lost a lot of my respect when he refused to fight Harper on all of his confidence votes, even though some of them were *bad news*, because the Liberal's number were down and they didn't want to call an election. I know they're out there to be re-elected, but they should really be there for the people of Canada first.

I think he is an earnest, intelligent, straight-forward guy, and unlike some people I know, I have no problem with the fact that he has an academic background. I think that he has been badly misrepresented by a vicious and pointless Conservative campaign, and I think he has a pretty canny sense of when to fight his battles.
