Fic length

You know, when I started off in fandom I *loved* long fics. I know I spent about a month working through Miss Meko's fics. I'd seek them out, and relish them. When I came over to the SGA fandom and saw that the majority of fics seemed to be only 1, 2, or 3 LJ posts long, well, it made me sad, and long for longer fics. I know at the beginning I was able to read quite a few, but once I got through them, I was stuck with the shorter fics.

I don't know what it is, but while I still seek out longer fics, I've found myself having trouble reading them. It's like my attention span just shrunk. It seems that as I read these longer fics I think to myself "Ok, hurry up now" or "OMG I can't believe I'm only half way through!" Even the longer fics that I read and loved, I'm not able to go back and read them again (at least not all of it at once, I'll sometimes just read parts of it though).

I don't know what this says about me. All I know is that I'm reading this one fic right now thinking both those thoughts mentioned above, and instead of just reading through it, I'm making my second post of the night, am completely caught up on my flist, have been leaving comments for people, and have even read through a couple old wank debates/meta. I just can't believe this. *sigh* I just joined [livejournal.com profile] sga_epicfic which lists quite a few fics I've never read before, but I'm slightly afraid of reading them because they might bore me. WHERE HAS MY ATTENTION SPAN GONE!

Sleeeep

God, I'm at work and am *so* tired. I'm trying to look up ion selective pH meters and am drawing a complete blank. For *pH meters*. If I can't find a friggin' pH meter, what use am I?

Question

Has anyone on my flist had laser eye surgery? I just made an appointment for one of those free consultations...
