I've always liked twitter for the fact that I can immediately post and it makes it feel low pressure and simple to do, whereas with journals I've always felt the need to put more thought and effort into them which can often lead to me writing posts in my head but not actually on the internet. But I see a lot of people using Dreamwidth a bit more casually these days, with tiny updates like you might see on twitter, but it also gives us the space to be verbose when we want/need to (and sometimes when we shouldn't which is how I ended up posting a 3.7K post just now *cough*).
