Oh yay, I love being mentioned in other people's posts! *claps* :P
To be honest, the reasons why you were forefront in my mind is because I was going one of the LJ searches looking for posts that said my name, and you had made one in like, December, asking where I was, because normally I laugh at your Harper hair jokes. I thought about responding now, saying I was taking a break from LJ, but felt funny doing so. :P

As for the fic, OMG the lack of knowledge. Granted I can understand some of the georgraphy stuff, since*I* probably would have gotten that wrong if I were writing it on the fly (if I were really writing it, I'd take the time to *ask*)

There's an IKEA across the street where you can lie on the beds, but I'm pretty sure they kick you out at closing time.
That made me laugh. Probably more than it should have :D:D

On the way from the airport to the hospital, Brian had to pull over and vomit *in the grass* at the side of the road.
Yeah, he'd have to pull pretty *far* off to be able to do that, like off an exit and in the muddy turf of a McDonalds or something. Or be in like, Whitby.

This was the biggie: Brian got to the hospital, and *whipped out his credit card* to pay for the stay. I was like, "WTF? What's he going to do with that?" One would think they would have set to work getting their children OHIP cards right away. Kids do tend to get sick and hurt themselves pretty often.
And even if he didn't have OHIP yet, hospitals in Canada aren't all that money grubbing, they send you bills in the mail, like 2 months later. Yeah, I could probably forgive everything else in that fic, but the credit card is a bit much, I don't even think hospitals can handle transactions like that, you'd have to go to a specific department I bet, the ER would just be like o_O

The SGA fandom is pretty good about handling Canada, better than the show sometimes. In the show, McKay, the Canadian is really rude, they say they're trying to disprove the polite Canadian stereotype, but they also have things like, having him being picked up by the *CIA* in grade 8. Because yes, really the CIA monitors Canadian science fairs. *rolls eyes*

I'm reading this fic right now that has a few more o_O like McKay was trying to call his friend in Toronto from the US and had to hang up because he forgot the international dialing code? He forgot the 1? Or he throws a fit, because there's *no*way* he's getting on that plane to the US without his passport, he doesn't want to be *arrested* once he gets there. *snort* (I realize that's changing now, but still, I doubt you'd be picked up and thown in jail for not having your passport, especially since in the fic, he had just married an American.

Now I understand, if only a little, how all the Brits feel reading Harry Potter fanfic. :P
