Actually the whole "Canadian accent" thing is one of my pet peeves because honestly? I don't think we talk any differently than 80% of the people on TV, and they're mostly all American. Granted, I *know* that America has a lot of accents (a *lot*) but still, I'm getting over it now, but I've honestly heard people say "I can tell a Canadian accent within a sentence" and I'm like, "Dude, we don't actually say aboot and shit like that, unless your French, or a Newfie, or ok most of the Atlantic provinces, you can't really tell the difference between a Canadian or a neutral American accent. But apparently this quiz was enough to catch me, so maybe I'm being too dismissive of the whole thing...
OMG, that pissed me off so much when I went to England. I just kind of would roll my eyes, it wasn't exactly unexpected. Although sometimes it can really suck because there are a lot of anti-American people out there, and it sucks when it's directed at you and you're not American. One of the teachers I knew had things thrown at her on the street and the person called her the equivalent of a "Fucking" American as he did it. Not that I feel Americans deserve such behaviour, but it's particularly bad when you're not actually the intended target.
