So, for those of you who signed up for my Real Life Meme and said it was cool to call you, please take a moment to fill out this poll. I almost called people last night but it was getting latish, and didn't want call at a bad time.

If you didn't sign up for this meme, when I originally posted it, it's not too late! I will call/mail letters anywhere in the world (I'd love to go visiting too, but sadly I can't go anywhere I can't drive to :( )

For right now, I'm free most evenings. Occasionally I'm on the phone with someone else (Charles calling to tell me about the fantastic sex he's having...*sigh*). I work until 5 and then my plans depend on who is doing what. If stuff changes (I'm trying to get a new job) I'll let you know.

I almost called you last night. It was getting kind of late (for me, it was only like 8pm!) and I didn't want to call

anoel because she's in the same time zone as me, and I was thinking that everyone goes to bed incredibly early, not just me :P

Then I remembered that I have issues placing Texas on the map. For the longest time Texas was on my very short list of states I could point to without having to read the name, and while I can do that, because I know the shape, for some reason in my mental map of the US, Texas is right under California, and in a much later time zone.

Yes, feel free to mock me. Why yes, I *am* one of those people who thinks north is always in front of me. :P

Heh...last night I was up until a little after 1. Granted, I was watching movies and then catching up on The 4400 for most of that, but movies can be paused.

Texas under California, eh? Granted, we are techincally further south than they are, but there's still a couple of states between us. Of course, I can't always talk. There are still quite a few states that I forget. And when I have to deal with "states" or their equivalent in other countries? Yeah, not so much. Canada, I know where Quebec and Nova Scotia are and that's about it. I can point out most of the major cities, but naming provinces?

Anyway, I say any day is free and I just got a call from PJ and we're gonna go shoot some pool tonight, so I'd say tomorrow would be a better bet. It'll be more fun if we can actually talk. ;)

I said something really stupid to a customer one day trying to guess where Texas was (neither of us really knew), and then looked it up. I think I've got the *picture* straight in my head, but for some reason I have trouble remembering that it's only 1 time zone behind me and think I should wait until, like Vancouver times to call.

And we only have 10! (and 3 territories) I know that I would die if I had to know where all the states were. I'm happy when I can figure out which one a place is in from the abbreviated mailing address.

Isn't that always the case, though? I know that the days I'm the most tired, invariably, I'm up even later than normal. But then I get so tired that I come home from work and nap and then I get this huge second wind.

That reminds me of earlier this year when I was in Deleware and Mum was in Las Vegas and I completely forgot that she was three hours behind me instead of just one. I called her at 0900 my time...0600 her time. She was *not* happy. It probably didn't help that I wasn't repetant in the least. But I was bored.

Anyways, I'll try and call you tomorrow then. Also, is that a new icon?
Coolness. I look forward to it. It's fairly new.

geonncannon made it...not too long ago. I forget when. All of my SG icons except the "brilliant" one are by him. If you check his LJ, his got about 50 of them for most of the recent eps for SG-1 and SGA. Most of them are femslash oriented, though he does have some awesome Rodney icons.

I must have missed that meme when I was away. It's a pretty cool meme. I'll leave you my adress, so you can eventually send me a nice postcard. I love postcards. And I can send you one too if you like.
Unfortunately I hate to speak on the phone with people, though it would be fun. But I probably wouldn't understand anything. It's so hard to call in a foreign language.

Yeah, I said I'd call anyone anywhere, but I know it can be ackward when your first languages aren't the same. When I was in China, one of my friends started with a new plan (I think it was a VOIP) and could call China for free, except the connection wasn't that great, and with the accents it was a really hard conversation. I would still be willing to try though :)

When my friend was in Canada, she called me once and it was so difficult. The connection was okay, but it took like 2 seconds till it arrived at my end when she was talking. So it happened often that we talked at the same time or that nobody said anything.
Talking in a foreign language is so much harder. When I write in the internet, I can take my time and eventually look some words up, but talking in real time, that's a bit more difficult.

Yeah, I used to have that problem when I was talking to my sister in Australia. I don't think it was much of a problem when I was in China though. I think the connections have gotten better since then. *shrugs* I shall see.

No, a card from Canada would be great. I have a lot already (from Saskatchewan (I'm not sure if it's spelled right) and Toronto, but none from Ottawa yet.

Probably. It was ten years ago when my friend was there. When I got called in Brazil, everything went really fine.
