SGA
So I finally had a chance to watch this weeks SGA, and may I say, I seem to be so out of step with this fandom. I hated Doppleganger, but actually liked this one. And I'm not even a Sheppard lover. It would have been nice to see more of the team, but Ronon was awesome, an John was good.
My only concern, is that I've heart that the Travellers are supposed to be the new bad guy in town. God I hope I'm wrong. Can we say the Genii all over again? Come on, the Wraith were such great bad guys, SG-1 managed to keep the Goa'ould (sp?) for how many seasons? What's wrong with the writers of SGA that they couldn't keep up with the Wraith? I hate that there are so many alien bad guy possibilities why do you keep making human bad guys? If I wanted to watch human badguys I'd turn on Law and Order, and any number of shows that *aren't* sci fi.
Something that's been annoying me lately. I've been analyzing my shows too much. Even when I like an episode, I still talk about what they did wrong. Lindsay, you're killing your own fun here.

Doppleganger, while still fairly decent, was so not the best SGA ever. It was like they tried to take the one where Jack gets taken over by a crystal and put it in the Pegasus Galaxy. We Don't Want another Star Trek here people!!! Don't reuse the story lines!
Travelers was pretty good, though I would have liked it if John wasn't always Kirking it up and stuff. And they're supposed to be the new bad guys? Oh please no. We have the Wraith and the Genii (who they're still enemies against) and the replicators. SG1 didn't get replicators until the end of S3, and even though SG1 had other enemies, it was all mainly the Gou'ald. Yes, you can only show so many shots of the Wraith sucking life out of people, but how many times did we have Gou'ald trying to take hosts?
What they should do is make Rachel's baby be a tiny Wraith thing that Teyla somehow got impregnated with (yes, far out there. But then again... this is the Stargate Fandom) and this child holds the key to the undoing of the Wraith, but only to bring about something bigger and worse (aka Pegasus' version of the Ori). And until that happens, I want more discovery of Atlantis. Mostly because it makes me giggle to think that they have like 4 rooms and one hallway total as they film.

One of the things that makes it particularly bad, is that with Sam here, it's made worse. Did you notice that half her lines began with, "Something like this happened to SG-1" or something to that effect. If you can't come up with new story lines, than you have no right to be writing for SGA, let alone starting up a second (third if you count SG-1 as one) spin off.
I would have liked it if John wasn't always Kirking it up and stuff.
Yeah, I found that a bit weird since not too long ago we saw John look like he wanted to melt into the floor when Teyla hugged him. Also, people keep writing meta posts about how John Sheppard could not possibly be straight, and I sometimes forget that it's not canon :P

They're not still enemies with the Genii... Remember there was that ep where Landon over threw Cowen and started a truce with Atlantis? We saw it again in that ep where Kolya kidnapped John and fed him to the Wraith, Atlanis is on the Genii's good side. It was just Kolya's band that was still against them, and John killed Kolya during Irresponsible, so I doubt we'll be hearing much from the Genii.
And I guess since they now have the replicators and Wraith fighting they figured we needed a new bad guy :S Personally I wouldn't mind seeing more from the Replicators if it meant we'd get to see what happened to Weir.

And the glow-y eyes. You can't forget the glow-y eyes :P

I think one of the Travellers is the father, but I may be pulling that out of my ass...

Hmm, I don't know, they already did that twice now on SG-1....

Yeah, although if what we get from random rooms is exploding tumours than no. I'd love to see some more of the city though.

re: child=Wraith undoing
yeah I know it has been done on SG-1 before, but I think that baby needs to be influential in some form. Maybe it'll be an ascended being come back to this plane... although that's been done as well...
and really? the genii? i must have missed that episode cause i could have sworn that they were still enemies... oh well.
