Icon love!

When the dog whines, he wants to be let out to do his business. If you don't let him out, he makes a mess in the bathroom and the first person who needs to take a shower (usually me, as my brother's not a morning person) has to clean it up if he's not let out in time.

My issue with letting him out is that it's not my responsibility. I think if you (general you) want to keep a pet in a house with other people, it's your responsibility to make the sure the pet doesn't inconvenience anyone. Why should it be someone else's responsibility to look after your pet? If you don't care enough about your pet to care for it properly (and I think making sure other people aren't inconvenienced is proper care), then why should anyone else, especially when it's not their pet?

It's not a huge issue, I get that, but it really adds up after a while. Usually I end up putting the dog out, but it pisses me off every single time. I'm awake and cold and shivering while my brother's sleeping soundly. It's just not fair. And actually, it's resulted in me really disliking this dog. None of our others dogs have been as difficult and I've loved them to bits. But if this dog got lost tomorrow and never came back, I'd feel bad for my brother but thrilled for me. And I'm usually not that cold about pets.

(I'm a bit bitter about this, in case you couldn't tell. Sorry if that spilled over onto your situation.)
