Drive by update.

So, I haven't made a RL post in a while. I've been avoiding LJ/IJ for a while now. Not for any specific reason, just because I've been busy and have been feeling kind of disconnected.

I suppose the biggest news from me is that last Tuesday I got a promotion at work. It was very happy inducing, since I got a really big raise with the promotion and that'll help with my house fund. It wasn't completely unexpected. About an hour after the person whom I replaced announced their resignation my boss pulled me aside and asked me if I'd replace her. I still had to go through an interview process, but I took over the work load that comes with the promotion weeks before I officially was given the job.

I had really looked forward to the new job, because the job I was at before was never really enough to fill my day. That said though, they still haven't found a replacement for my old job so I'm still doing all that work too. It's kind of killing me. I have so much work to do, and not enough time to do it. I think I'm probably going to have to spend Saturday working on stuff because there just are not enough hours in the day at the moment. Also, my attention span is killing me a bit. It would save me so much time if I just worked through my lunch, but if I try and do that, I get nothing done in the afternoon. I need the break away from everything.

Fandom wise, I'm still loving Supernatural, and am looking forward to tonights episode. Some friends also got me to watch Torchwood. I wouldn't say I'm in love with it, but it's enjoyable. I'm sure I'm going to spend quite a bit of time this Sunday at the ottawa_slashers meet up talking about it and giving those friends a chance to convert me more fully. :)

I also have a request for my flist. Have you guys seen the vids where people are able to some how manipulate characters into kissing (I'd provide examples but I'm at work, so don't have any links handy)? I know that somewhere out there there's a tutorial on how it's done, but I can't find it. I tried Googling it and all I was able to get were vids or else tutorial on how to kiss *headdesk*
The thing is, I have a vid due at the end of the month, I have no idea if I even have time to learn how to do this, but I think it's *so* *cool* and really think the SGA fandom needs such a vid (Oh god, if there's one already and I just missed it, could someone *please* link me up?).

Congrats on the promotion! That's incredibly awesome. Sorry about all the extra work though.

They did a tutorial at Vividcon but I was following along so sadly I don't have notes. But someone did! Took me awhile to find but there are some notes here (http://theodosia.livejournal.com/553163.html). I hope you do it! I'd looove to see an SGA one. And there's a community too, opensourcekiss with examples.

Yes! That's what I was looking for! I knew that there had been a panel at Vividcon, so tried looking through the August posts in [Bad username or site: vidding/ @ livejournal.com] but finally gave up thinking this would be faster. Thanks so much for the links! I'll definitely share whatever I manage to do :) I miss vidding in QaF where all this was canon...

Congrats on the promotion! You totally deserve it.

I've said it before, I'll say it again: Torchwood is awesome. So much gay potential in that show. It is my gay crack. I'm only sad that this next season will be a little shorter than normal.

I hope you can figure out how to make people kiss in a vid. This is me totally volunteering to beta that vid!

I haven't been completely sold on Torchwood yet. I think I'm missing a lot by not having seen the Dr. Who episodes with Jack because when ever I say something that caught be off guard, raxhel will mention the DW eps. Still, I'm looking forward to the next season. Why is it going to be shorter? They're already short!

Well, I'm not sure if I'll have time to figure it out for this vid (it's due the 30th, and I'm not even sure I have time to breath between now and New Years, gah!) but I'm really interested in trying. I wish there were better tutorials out there, I think I'm going to have to do some more searching. From what I can gather there was a panel at Vividcon and a lot of people learned there, but the link anoel provided above is more rough notes than an actual tutorial. :-/ Also they say that if you know PS you won't find it too hard but I've never been able to do anything in PS :P

I'll still make you take you up on your offer to beta though. :)

And I'm not exactly holding my breath for a replacement, they're going to pull the replacement from another department here That department is down and Nov/Dec is just as busy for them so they might not let her/him move until after the rush. It may not be until January that they actually find a replacement. Even then, there's going to be training and I'm probably going to be helping them a lot for a while.
On the good news front I went to my boss today with a list of everything I currently have on my plate and she took a couple big projects from me and is going to look at getting me some more help, because there's no way I can do everything I have right now on my own.
