I just went through this with my Butterscotch, he had bone marrow cancer and had gotten so weak he could barely lift his head. We, too, were leary of staying while he died after they told us what could happen but I'm glad we stayed. He, too, went very peacefully and was gone within a matter of seconds. It's hard, I know exactly what you're going through.
