Fic Rec

So, I don't rec fic all that often, but I just finished reading Mona Lisa Box by tzzzz and highly recommend it. It's a SGA/SCC cross over where John is a Terminator sent back in time to protect Rodney, one of the creators of Skynet. I like the SCC parts, but I totally love the destructive nature of John and Rodney's relationship.

Umm, not to get your hopes up much, but I don't think Derek is in it very much other than to tell Cameron to kill Rodney.

Oh, man. That destructive ship is the reason I'm glad this fic was relatively short. I mean, it was awesome, but also terrible, that Rodney, who's so helplessly compassionate for even the morons that he *flails to indicate five paragraphs on Rodney's defence mechanisms* leads John to the choice to blow them all away by loving him.

God.

I love the triple layers of ironic foreshadowing in John's name. Because, if John Connor can send back terminators to save himself, why can't Skynet one-up him by sending back a terminator to become himself? This, too, is awesome.

But most awesome to me is John's learning and the way he develops leaps and bounds faster than Cameron, even though she's converging on a similar destination, because you know the difference there is that he's engaging with just the right person.

This kind of becoming is one of my fic kinks, and I especially adore it when it involves A.I.'s. Have you read Leah's Male Enhancement (The Soul and the Company Store Remix)? Cause that one hits even more of my story buttons, and I'd love to C&C about it.
