Admittedly, it's been a while since I read the series, but I don't remember any God or archangel. Lyra's parents were trying to play god, and there was dimension hopping (which is where the species that uses their food as an extra limb to walk come in) and people trying to cut off other people's souls, so it wouldn't surprise me if there was a god aspect to it. I don't know man, it's been 5 years. I figured with all the crossovers out there that focus on the one aspect of the world, it'd be fun.
