Fannish Osmosis Meme!
I've been participating in meme's on other people's journals lately, so I thought it was time to do one on mine. And also distract from some of the unhappy podfic things going on lately. So.
Give me a fandom and I'll tell you what I think I know and you can tell me how right/wrong I am.

I want to say it's that cop show where the partners are put into couple's therapy but I'm pretty sure that show is called "Common Law" also, I think Suits has been around too long.
Should I make something up? It's a cop show about detectives that specialize in... real estate fraud!

It's about Matt Bomer (I don't know his character's name. Neil maybe?), who is a... conman I think? Who is given one of those deals that if he works for the cops and uses his skills for good, they'll let him out of prison.
So he moves in with a cop (and Kelly Kapowski!
and there are threesomes) to wear suits a lot and con people and occasionally paint in tank top to show off his arms and sometimes the cop has to reign him inwith the leash around his ankle. How'd I do on that one?
no subject
Kelly Kapowski would be Elle, Peter's wife who is UTTERLY AMAZING and she and Peter seriously have the most functional marriage on television, omg.
Accurate about the leash. Yep.

OK, I think it's an older fandom and is about... spies?
And one for you: Numb3rs
no subject
early 80s British spies (they call it CI-5, but it's basically MI-5, the internal spies in Britain). Their boss is Cowley (aka the butler from upstairs, downstairs :) and the have the typical odd couple of public school (I think) dropout turned former mercenary (great rape past in his time in Africa :) and art student turned cop with a heart of gold and about as much hair as Blair...
can you do Sentinel????
no subject
I feel more confident about Sentinel, but I have seen a few episodes of it, so that helps.
Jim is a military guy who gets left in a jungle for a while and his senses get super honed and he becomes a Sentinel. Blair is, like, an anthropologist or something who's heard about Sentinels and decides he's going to be Jim's guide. So he's trying to help Jim deal with his super senses so he can function like a normal person, but still use his super powers to help him solve crimes, which he (Jim) does because he's a cop.
I only got a few episodes in, but I've been told that in the second season or something they get spirit animals?

Oh re Numb3rs...used to watch it first season until I got too frustrated with their faily math. ...a weak spot for me. Loved the dad, though and tolerated Don...Charlie had too much hair!!! :D (what is is with fans and the curly fro?)
And I LOVED seeing the girl with Flanigan in Thought Crimes (I love that TV film...sue me :)
[OK, just did use IMDB to find her name, Navi Rawat. doing that I realized that Gabrielk Macht, aka Harvey Specter was initially cast for Don Eppes)

OK, are you in Once Upon a Time? How about Secret Circle or Terminator?
PS. I liked Thought Crimes too, I wish it had been a show.

It's a book fandom set in a world with fairies. The dark that is rising is, in fact trolls trying to take over their kingdom. The main character is a fiesty woman who's quick with a knife and is trying to infiltrate the troll camp with the help of her side kick, a glow worm.
And now this sounds like a Disney movie. :P
Now, for you, did you ever watch Queer as Folk? Or, oh! Card Captor Sakura? (wait, you were in anime, so probably). Or Outlander, the book series?

Dark is Rising: A children's book series about the epic battle between forces of Light and Dark based on Arthurian legends and celtic/norse myths. Most fic centers around Will Stanton, a boy who discovers that he is an Old One (one of the immortal and mystical beings that fight for the Light) and Bran Davies, son of King Arthur that Merlin brought into the future.
Queer as Folk:
About a man named Brian who is a bit of a player getting together and negotiating a relationship with a fairly younger man Justin (I get the impression he might be underage when they first hook up). And it ends in tears because they break up and all the development of Brian's character disappears? Maybe?
Card Captor Sakura:
Okay, magical girl show where young girl who is the daughter of one of the reincarnations of the great magician Clow has to collect a bunch of mystical cards that he left behind with the help of a flying teddy bear. Meanwhile, Clow manipulates the shit out of things 'cause there are like 3 different versions of him. I read the manga many years ago and shipped Touya/Yukito (the brother and the guy who turns into Yue with the wings). All I really care about is that Touya gave up all his magic (and ability to see his dead mother) in order to save Yukito/Yue.
Outlander:
Woman (a nurse) from the 20th century gets taken back in time in Scotland. She might go back and forth for a bit. Think she gets tried as a witch at one point. Gets married. And they end up in America eventually. Also told in first person?

See? I totally got that one right. :P
Queer as Folk
Pretty good. It's technically and ensemble show, but Brian and Justin get most of the fannish limelight. Saying they negotiate their relationship is maybe giving those two a bit too much credit (and yeah, Justin was 17 when they first had sex).
And it ends in tears because they break up and all the development of Brian's character disappears? Maybe?
Clearly you've heard me rant about this. :P
CCS
I'm not sure if it's the difference in the manga vs. dubbed TV show or if it's just been that long since I watched it, but I sooo don't remember half the things you mentioned there.
From what I remember Sakura accidentally opened Clow's book of cards and they all ran away, so Sakura had to gather them all up again with the help of the teddy bear. I don't really remember Clow being in the show and I only vaguely remember the Touya/Yukito relationship (although they weren't together in the dub and they had different names).
Outlander
She only goes forth the once and back the twice (well, up to book 5, I haven't read the others) but everything else is right! She gets married before the witch trial (if I'm being super picky) and it's an arranged marriage. And it's implied later that she *is* actually a witch and never realized, that's part of the reason why she could travel back and forth in time.

One dude is a platic person/robot, one only has a single tastebud so likes eating spicy things like vindaloo.
It's all rather ridiculous and at one point they explain why all their technology looks old and even though it's set way in the future, there's no internet.

I've seriously only seen maybe 20 minutes of an episode and there was a dude, probably named Damien, who maybe had a brother? From what I gathered, the girl talking about Damien thought he was an ass, but my sister loved him because he's hot.
Presumably there are also vampires.
How'd I do? :D
no subject
Damon is an ass, but he's hot, so fandom loves him. His brother is generally considered to be less interesting, although they dirtied him up a bit in season three.
WELL PLAYED
