Fannish Osmosis Meme!

I've been participating in meme's on other people's journals lately, so I thought it was time to do one on mine. And also distract from some of the unhappy podfic things going on lately. So.

Give me a fandom and I'll tell you what I think I know and you can tell me how right/wrong I am.

Yup,

early 80s British spies (they call it CI-5, but it's basically MI-5, the internal spies in Britain). Their boss is Cowley (aka the butler from upstairs, downstairs :) and the have the typical odd couple of public school (I think) dropout turned former mercenary (great rape past in his time in Africa :) and art student turned cop with a heart of gold and about as much hair as Blair...

can you do Sentinel????

Ohh I really didn't think I got the spy-thing right, go me!

I feel more confident about Sentinel, but I have seen a few episodes of it, so that helps.

Jim is a military guy who gets left in a jungle for a while and his senses get super honed and he becomes a Sentinel. Blair is, like, an anthropologist or something who's heard about Sentinels and decides he's going to be Jim's guide. So he's trying to help Jim deal with his super senses so he can function like a normal person, but still use his super powers to help him solve crimes, which he (Jim) does because he's a cop.

I only got a few episodes in, but I've been told that in the second season or something they get spirit animals?

Oh yes...and they merge and all!!! But that's pretty much all that you'd need to read fic :) [and that's really the most important thing, right???]

Hmm..I'm trying to think of my smaller fandoms....

Oh man, I tried watching Oz and failed out at the episode where... I want to call him Toby, but I could be completely wrong there, broke the glass window and went for the Aryan's eyes. :S That's when I started having nightmares and decided it wasn't worth it.

So, GenKill. It's about soldiers and... actually, I think that's all I got. I'm assuming they're fighting something, for something, but I couldn't even tell you that. (apparently I suck at osmosis. /o\)

Oh, remembe Quantum leap? And what's your favorite ST spinoff? (I'm a DS9 girl myself, though New Gen certainly marred me for life :)

[FWIW, it's operation Iraqui Freedom and the main character (the reporter who embedded and wrote the book and the show has as much of a crush on him as does fandom) is Erik from True Blood!!!]

Quantum Leap... god, all I'm thinking of is Sliders, I think they were slightly similar? Jumping from dimension to dimension?

Of the ST shows, the only one I really watched was Next Gen, but I was like 10 at the time? The one I'm most fannish over is the reboot movie.

Oh re Numb3rs...used to watch it first season until I got too frustrated with their faily math. ...a weak spot for me. Loved the dad, though and tolerated Don...Charlie had too much hair!!! :D (what is is with fans and the curly fro?)

And I LOVED seeing the girl with Flanigan in Thought Crimes (I love that TV film...sue me :)

Damn, I think we have a lot of fandoms in common. I was trying to think of a fandom I'm in that you might not be in and it turns out you were. :P

OK, are you in Once Upon a Time? How about Secret Circle or Terminator?

PS. I liked Thought Crimes too, I wish it had been a show.

Me too!!! It'd have been a really fun fandom, I think!

I watched the beginning of Secret Circle, bc I liked Life Unexpected (for a random way of liked...the statutory rape teacher was very cute!!!), and the main character was played by that actress...and then there was Brian Kinney, of course (though damn, did he not age well, which I already realized in Hellcats). So...young witches and wizards who need a certain number to form a circle and increase their power, which their parents had done but things went awry and people died (or became comatose). And principal and Brian are the evil parents who wean to use the kids and Brian killed Cassie's mom (maybe that was her name in Life Unexpected? :). Then there are crystals and I stopped when the hunters came on the scene...

I watched all of SCC and loved it. I tried Once Upon a time, so I know the basic premise...everyone's young and pretty even if they're each other's parents and grandparents and Rumplstilkin rocks???

Really? I didn't think he aged too badly (and I was totally drawn into the show by the promise of Brian Kinney and John Connor on the same show. :P)

Oh man, I forget John Connor. But then I kinda tried to ignore him on SCC too. Now 90210's Brian? I liked him for the first time!!!

(OMG speaking of 90210...dylan was the love interest for a bit on Haven...that was a weird you seem familiar but...)

What? We clearly watched SCC very differently, I loved John in that! (and mostly didn't care about Derek).

I have no idea what Haven is. kronos999 said she had the vague idea that it was one of those "small town on the water, where weird things happen" kind of shows, so I'll make something up based on that.

It is about a small town girl, who's kind of a loner and brainy. One day while on a hike she manages to wake an old evil that starts causing mysterious things to happen around town and it's up to her and some new-to-town boy to figure out how to stop it!
