They shut down qafdownloads and master_listers. I had a few warnings that this would happen, but I didn't really see it coming :(

I don't want the community to die though. Especially just before season 5. I'm looking into other ways to have it work, but I need to talk to the others in master_listers. WE'LL FIGURE SOMETHING OUT, I PROMISE!!!

Is there a way to hide the links in our journals, or to do some sort of mailing list? Let me know if I can help out.

what I've decided to do is make a mailing list. For the moment I made a yahoo group, if you want to join it I'll try to get it up and running ASAP.
Also if you happen to have any links, send them my way, I don't want the list down for very long. :)

they didn't send warnings they sent messages to the mods saying it was closed. The warnings I was tlaking about were ones by other LJers who had had this happen to other communities that had downloads. In the e-mail from the LJ abuse team it said they are trying to crack down on communities that aid in illegal downloads

My guess would be that they're feeling pressure from outside sources. I mean suprnova was just a mirror, but the owner was almost arrested over it, and other owners of similar sites *were* arrested and put in jail.

Hey Lindsay -
on the new list - can you make a permanent file that just a few people have editing access to? So that the file stays in one place, and the amalgamators just go in and edit that same list? Maybe have one login/password that they use if necessary?

Well at the moment I have it so that everything has to be approved by a mod. The only thing is I have no idea how to make other people mods.... I'll look into it some more.

I actually have quite a few filters and such in place. I want to make sure that if people join this group they're not going to be getting a zillion e-mails everyday....

I'm here via baby_sis. qafdownloads was such a wonderfully generous and organized community and it really got me through withdrawal as I waited for my DVDs to arrive. Thank you so much for keeping it going. I've already applied to the list, and when I get home, I'll look through my inbox and comment here with any live links I can find. Will that work?

My heart sank when I saw that the community has been deleted, just when we're getting closer and closer to the season 5 premier.

qafdowloads was to be my only access to S5 (unless I become a saint and wait until it comes out on DVD).

It was a great community. Many many thanks to you, the organizers, and to those who were kind enough to continuously share!

I understand why you'd want to lock you journal; it has become more frequent nowadays. However, I was wondering if I could add you. I didn't do it yet. I wanted to know if it was ok with you first.
