Domain Names

Hey,
So I think I've updated more in the last few weeks than I have in the last few months but whatever. :P

So, I've been looking at webpages. I don't really know why. I already have an account with Dreamhost, that's currently supporting 3 sites.

I just recently bought an account with Netfirms, that's hosting one page currently, and I plan on adding another page (A Numb3rs site).

But well, my main use for webpages lately have been illegal uploads for others, and I don't really want them on the same account as actual websites in case they get taken down. (Like what was going on with Dreamhost that prompted this recent frenzy of purchasing)

So, SurpassHosting has this "One Love" sale going on in which you can get a ridiculously large account for a year for only $1, so I figure, hey, can't go wrong with that! This deal is made slightly less great though, by the fact that, unlike most plans out there, it doesn't include a free domain name, and they charge $16 to register with them. I also don't really have any domains I want to transfer over to it. :(

So, now I'm looking into finding domain registrars.
I asked around, and GoDaddy seems to have really good customer service (although I don't know why I'd need it...) and currently has .info domains going for $.99, or if you get 3 you get free domain privacy (so my address isn't being broadcasted across the net). So at $4 it's seems to be the best deal in town.

I'm thinking one of those domains will be paraka.info

Any other suggestions?

Also, I still need a good name for a Numb3rs website...

I use GoDaddy, and I've never had a problem with them. They're cheap (I've got the lowest hosting plan you can get, and I've never even come close to going over neither my bandwith or my storage space), and you get a ton of subdomain names, too.

I'd reccommend it to a friend, definitely. :)

Well, for $.99 I am now the proud owner of carr0ts.info now I just need to go and set everything up. It's not actually attached to an account yet.

I'm sorry this is a random comment and nothing to do with your post, but you don't have a freinds comment post so didn't know where else to put it :)

Just wondered if it was OK to freind you? I always thing it's nicer to ask than just add people. I've donwloaded from you several times on the Numb3rs eps site, and thanks so much for that as the rest of the uploads are almost always Megaupload and I can't use them. We also seem to have a few comms in common. And I'd like to be able to return the favour of the Numb3rs eps if i can, as I upload a lot too, but it's all in locked posts so you'd need to friend back if you wanted them.

Hi, the more the merrier. I used to be friends only, then I kind of stopped updating, and then I kind of stopped reading my flist, and then I was like "Hey, if I unlock my journal, I can defirend all the people I don't know, and then I'll read my flist again because it's not going to be massive huge!" Except it totally didn't work out that way, so, umm, yeah, I only check my flist once in a blue moon.

Also, I'm with you on hating Megaupload. They're stupid, have download limits, and only allow 1000 downloads per *day* in to the country with the second largest internet population *shakes fist*! You can guess how often I managed to catch that 1000 download limit. *glares*

And yeah, we do seem to have a bunch of comms in common. Question are you on the yahoo SGAHC group? Have I seen you there? Also, I think I stumbled onto your vid page about a year ago. (I'm such a vid whore. And as soon as I have my computer back [which god only knows when that will be, I certainly don't, and neither, apperantly, does Gateway] I'll be finishing up my first SGA vid, so I'm very excited. :)
I just quickly followed the link from your user info page to your vid page, have you vidded to anything other than SG-1 (I'm pretty sure I have all of those already)?

No, I don't really use many other boards/forums, mostly just LJ and Kawoosh! forum (http://www.kawoosh.co.uk/forum/index.php) which _gater_ and I run.

Yep, I've also made two SGA vids, one Fantastic Four vid, one Supernatural vid, one Spiderman vid and one footie (Poldi) vid. I don't know it any of those are listed on that webpage though, but they are all on my LJ. I've not made a vid in a while but hopefully (sometime) I will get back into it :)

Ahh, just curious. I thought your name sounded familiar.

I'll have to go and check out your other vids then. And I can understand the whole "not vidding" thing, when I started vidding, I did it like crazy, all the time, now? I've only finished 1 vid in a year. I've started a few others, but....
