The actual surgery. I was thinking you'd have to book months in advance, but nope, they said Friday. I'm kind of glad, it leaves me less time to freak out about it.
I'm not all *that* nervous, I've asked so many people about it (probably in the hundreds) and so far have only heard two cases of bad side effects (my best friend was allergic to the eye drops so it was really uncomfortable until they figured it out and got her new ones, and then sunshineandrage had a room made who was blind for a while afterwards :S but they managed to fix it and she's fine now). I read throught the literature about the possible side effects, and all the ones that were serious had really big odds, and tend to be people that have existing conditions, so I'm not really that worried.
I've been wanting this for so long :D I'm glad I finally took the steps to get it done (I'm really good at putting things off for so long that they never get done, I'm cheap like that).
Oh man, maybe I'm a wimp but that would be frightening. But good luck and tell us how it goes! My mom's been talking about having this done so I'd love to hear from someone with some personal experience.
The only part that freaks me out is you're awake for it. It doesn't take long (like 5-10 minutes) but the thought of being concious as they're slicing up my eyeballs scares me.
I'll defintely make a post about it once I can see again though. :)
