When I was in the QaF fandom, I'd read pretty much anything I came across. I'll admit, I didn't have the highest standards then. I remember telling

raxhel about some of the fics I was reading, and she'd be wincing, and asking my why the hell I was wasting my time on crap like this, but, really, I was ok with it.

Then, when I moved out of the QaF fandom and into others, well they were fandoms that

raxhel was already in, so she sent me links to all the best fic she had come across, so I didn't need to wade through all the crappy stuff. It's gotten to the point where basically, I won't read a fic unless, 1) it's been rec'ed somewhere, or 2) I really like the author. Even so I still come across some less than stellar fics, but, wow, it's just no where near the level of bad of reading anything you come across.

Me and another girl are trying to set up a rec site for the Numb3rs fandom. Normally I find fic in a new fandom by looking at other people's rec sites. Numb3rs in kind of a small fandom though, and well, what's the point of making a rec site if you're just repeating someone else's? So I decided to just go to a Numb3rs fic community and read through the fic posted.

O.M.G! My eyes! They bleed from the bad fic! It's just, have the authors even *watched* the show!? Because there's OOC and then there's "Hi, I'm a character who happens to have the same name as this guy from this show". I don't know if I can do this.

And, to be fair, I think it's true, I'll never be completely out of the fandom. Just a few weeks ago I went on a QaF fic reading binge, didn't last all that long, but still. And about 50% of the new vid ideas I get are still for QaF, not if only I had the *time* to *make* them, then we'd really be going. :P

I know I haven't been around much, I went to ENgland for xmas which was intresting and I probably won't do it again.... I have a new job, I'm working through a temp agency so that'll probably happen allot... But the reason I mention it is because I wonder if you might know of it as I think you used to work for a company who does a similar thing and I was wondering if it was the same company as i know the xompany I work for has a devision in Canada, anyway the company is called Thermo Fisher Scientific formerly Thermo Electron, ring any bells at all????? I just started here about 2 weeks ago, but more exciting than that about 4 weeks ago I put my resume in for a job with the city of West Palm Beach, and never heard back from then, until last week (honestly I had almost forgotten about it) and I have an interview not this friday but next friday, i really hope I get the job as the benefits are really great the pay isn't bad I make more at Thermo but I truelly cannot stand the job, if I don't get the west palm job I will still be actively looking. Soooo the reason I'm not on MSN that much these days is because honestly I rarely am on the computer at home, and at work MSN doesn't work although the internet is on which is good. I'm really glad your still on the cuffs of the qaf fandom, I'm the same, I often go onto QAFfic when I'm bored at work hehehehe but don't get anyone of :D

Ah hahaha! I work for Thermo Fisher Scientific, formerly Fisher Scientific! WE WORK FOR THE SAME COMPANY! That's hilarious! The merger was a few months ago, it was a pretty big deal for us. Granted it was driving us crazy because Head Office wanted us to answer the phones "Hello, Fisher Scientific, a division of Thermo Fisher Scientific" Which is quite a mouthful and kind of repetitive. I mean it makes sense if you work for say Forma, or IEC or Jaun or whatever, but it's stupid for us, so we cut it down to just "Hello, Thermo Fisher Scientific" and never told head office :P What division of the company do you work for btw? What are you doing (I hope not customer service like me, it's kind of crappy)? God, it seems like everyone works for them, my Dad, me, my sister, her husband before they even met :P

Also, yeah MSN is blocked at my work too, actually so was hotmail, unless you went in through the backdoor. Do you still use your hotmail account? I was just wondering if you got my e-mail or not. Not that it matters anymore, but just curios.

Hotmail does work for me, and unfortunetly i still have to say Thermo FIsher Scientific formerly Thermo Electron, obviously I work in the West Palm Beach location and yes I work in customer services for the parts depatment, this is truelly wayy too weird. I hate SAP by the way I've never used it before and I only got trained on it for 2 1/2 days, so to say I'm a little overwhelmed would be an understatement... This is truelly too funny, for all I know you might of called me and you wouldn't even know it was me...... And I truelly hate getting the Canadia orders because your customer numbers never work on my system..... SO what division do you deal with?

Yeah, being in Canada makes us a bit more removed, and so the President's like "This is ridiculous, we're far too busy for this!" and said we could drop it. :P

Ha, the parts department, out parts department has 3 people in it. :P Jean, Diane and, well Gerly *was* there last I went to work, but I also got a notice that she was leaving, so it might be someone else by now.

Also, lab side uses a different program for orders than parts, but I'd imagine they'd be different regardless. We use QuickQuote in Sessions (like MS Dos windows). Also I had a *month* of training, well, the first time, now I just get a half day and I'm thrown back in ('cause I only work the summers), so we definitely haven't accidentally spoken (but that'd be cool!)

As for the Canadian thing, you have *no* idea how frustrating it is on the other side. And it happens everywhere. The majority of our vendors are American, and sometimes they'll try to tell me that *I'm* wrong! "No sir, I'm pretty sure I'm in Canada, and if you try to bill this to Pennsylvania you won't get paid." Also, while *most* of Fisher US and Fisher Canada's cat numbers are the same they aren't always. Gah.

Specifically, I'm in Fisher's lab side customer service. But mostly I fill out the faxed in orders. Sometimes I answer the phones.

*snort* yeah, because my dad's that high up. If you were in *our* parts department maybe, but in Florida? pfft, you have nothing to worry about.

And yeah, customer service is generally one of those in-between jobs, very few people *stay* in it. It's like the McDonalds of the corporate world :P

And yeah, it's a family vacation so all 6 of us are going, I don't know if I'll have a chance to meet up but that would be really cool if we could! I'm going to be going to... Orlando? Where ever Disney is, and doing the touristy things. (any suggestions?)

Also I added it as an after thought, simply because I haven't really been thinking about it all that much. School has been crazy busy, and it just seems so far off right now. *sigh* Also, my family is making all the arrangements, I'm just tagging along, so I don't really know all that many details, just that we're going to Disney, Universal, and possibly Bush Gardens and a boat.

That sucks about Paul though, anything particularly dickey he's been doing? Or just not an easy guy to live with? How's baby Carr0ts handling it?

I don't live near Orlando, as in 3 hours away, however strangely enough we too are going to Disney World, from the 16th to the 17th of Feb for Mini Carrots Birthday, they have this really cool think were she goes to a salon and they do her hair and makeup as a princess, my daughter is dieing to do this, and it's her first time going to Magic Kingdom, we wanted to take her when she would really remeber, anyway that's my fun plans :) As for suggestions you MUST go to Arabian Nights, I really enjoyed it, it was definetly a high light, also if you are staying there a while take a day to not go to the theme park and go see some of the touristy attraction in the area, allot of them are very different and are a nice change. Paul is definetly not easy but also yesterday i was in a bad mood with him, so that never helps hehehehe and mini Carr0ts she's doing just great, tonight i have a parent teacher meeting to see how's she's doing, oh the fun of being a parent :D

That's pretty much what happened to me. Read anything first and then find recs and only read the good stuff (unless you're desperate). Good luck with reading the bad stuff!

Yeah, I think that's it for everyone too. With standards changing to different levels at different speed for different people.

Of course with me, this whole, coming across crap fic is made worse by the fact that I feel I *have* to finish a fic once it's started. Or at the very least read all that's posted. It's like, I can't close that window until it's *done*. With very few exceptions.I realy, *really* need to get over that. :P
