Ok, first off, I want to wish geeklite a belated birthday. I so meant to make this post last night, but I fell asleep. :-/ I hope you had an amazing day!

Next, I know I'm totally late on this, but I want to talk about Colby and the Janus list.


Gah! This was such an amazing episode! When I finished watching that episode I realized that that was one of the most effective season finales I've ever seen. I can only think of one other season finale like it (The Buffy one where she killed Angel). It wasn't quite a cliffhanger, because the problem was resolved, but it just left everything so broken. I can't wait until the new season starts. *whines* I'm going to be spending waaayyyy too much time thinking about this ep. Also I was really impressed by this ender, because the finale for season 2 sucked so, so much. I'm glad they were able o make this one much more interesting.

The thing is, not for one minute did I actually believe Colby's been a spy for 2 years. I have a feeling he was probably pulled in by the Americans when they discovered Dwayne, because:
1) What are the chances they both happened to work for the Chinese. I mean of all the governments out there... It would be more likely if it were a Middle Eastern government, because at least they both fought over there, but the Chinese? I mean we know how Dwayne got involved, but Colby? His only connection is Dwayne.

2) If Colby was a spy on the same side as Dwayne they had some mighty weird private conversations. And Colby's must be a pretty good actor to look so surprised and hurt over Dwayne being a traitor. I mean honestly, if they both knew (and if it were true I can't believe they wouldn't at the very least have suspicions) they might not have come right out with their secret traitor hand shake, but I think they probably would have spoken in a few more double entendre's.

3) If Dwayne *knew* that Colby was a turn coat, I think he would have turned him in when Colby cornered him. He was so upset and angry when it happened I can't believe he wouldn't lash out. I mean, I know he knew by this episode, but I bet he probably learned while imprisoned and decided to sit on it, because he was calmer and already caught, he knew he'd have to use that info to his advantage, but I doubt he'd be thinking that clearly when he was first arrested.


Edit: Obviously there are spoilers in this post and the comments for Janus List. In the comments though we now have some vague cast spoilers for season 4 (of both Numb3rs and SGA). Please don't spoil me people. I can't handle it! (Ok, I *can* but it'll piss me off). I think Germany is better in field hockey than in ice hockey. We also have an ice hockey league (even my town has a team), but I never really follwed the sport. I like soccer.
Ah soccer, it's becoming more popular here. But it's not so much a spectator sport here as it's a playing sport. That came out wrong. Lots of people play it here, they just don't watch the professionals play. Actually, my uncle is in the Guinness Book of World Records for soccer. :D

I'm really curious about Supernatural. My expectations are pretty high already.
Well the characters are great. There are a munch of people who find it scary, but I don't at all. I actually find some of the story lines hokey since they're really popular urban legends. Like Bloody Mary, or the guy with the hook. Season 2 has been a bit more original, and has an ongoing story line with Sam that covers a lot of eps.

Soccer is the most famous sport in Germany, watching and playing. Even I played it for one year. What did your uncle do to get into the Book of World Records?

Yeah most people know that over here, and I think that's part of the o_O factor, since the news always shows clips of the fans going apeshit over it. :P Just like how, when I was in China, I was told more than once, that hockey was the most violent sport out there. Which, yeah, there are some fights, but it's not *that* bad. I'd wager you're more likely to get seriously hurt playing football or rugby, but all the Chinese ever see of the sport is the big fight scenes so they have a media bias about it. :P

My uncle organized a fund raiser in his town to have 2 regular sized team play an entire seasons worth of games in one day. 24 hours straight with only something like 5 minute breaks between periods. You should have seen them by the end, they could barely stand up, but they did manage to get some good plays at the end where the teams tried to beat each other. :P

Soccer can be a cool sport. And the atmosphere in a stadium is just great. My friends and me went all crazy last year during the World Cup. :D

I know what you mean about the atmosphere. This is the first time in 80 years that Ottawa's made it to the Stanley Cup Playoffs. People are going nuts. Tickets are going like crazy, and are sooo expensive (if you wanted to but them in advance, you had to buy seasons tickets for next year). They were talking on the radio about this one guy that sold his car to buy tickets to one of the games.

Today is the first home game. It's going to be nuts. There's this one major road downtown that they've been shutting down for every game because it's so full of people. They have this massive outdoor screen set up at city hall so that people can watch the game from there. I don't think the city has ever been like this before. It'll really suck if we lost (so far it's 2/0 for the Ducks :(((( ). We're hoping that now that the team is back on home ice they'll have a better chance of winning (not to mention *real* ice, the ice in California was so soft that the puck was bouncing all over the place, and snow would fly anytime someone tried to stop. *shakes head*).

When there are important games, there are also outdoor screens. I saw one game of the WC on an outdoor screen and it was lots of fun to watch a game with so many other people. The atmosphere was really good there, though not comparable to the atmosphere in a stadium.
It's too bad that Leipzig's soccer teams suck so much. We're only in the third league. :-\
