You know, for someone who has spent most of their life being a hard core mono-fandom person (I literally will spend *years* in a single fandom, where I don't even watch other TV), I'm feeling surprisingly multi-fannish lately. At the moment, I'm listening to a J2 podfic, reading a Torchwood fic, writing a Terminator:SCC fic, making a Supernatural vid and using a Doctor Who icon. With SGA and Merlin on the back burner.

This feels very strange to me. I blame the ottawa_slashers. It's all their fault. *nods*

Speaking of the ottawa_slahsers, I have a car all this week and next, anyone interested in getting together for a write in or something?

I got the Henry Jenkins book on fandom for Christmas and have slowly been reading it. It's too bad he wasn't able to make one on vidding, but I think it's so awesome that a documentary is being put together!

When I first discovered fandom, I didn't read fic. I knew about it, but I never tried reading it, instead I'd spend hours searching for vids, and even longer watching them. Vidding was my first contribution to fandom too. There was a time when vidding was my main focus in life, let alone fandom, I would spend hours fighting and cursing Windows Movie Maker. And while my fervor died down, and fic started taking over more of my fannish time, I still think of myself as a vidder. I still vid (as the hours I have put in this past week have shown).

I am sooo excited about this project. I'm going to have to check out the webpage and see about submitting something about myself. It seems really egotistical to think that a small vidder like me might be included in a documentary like this one, but I sooo want to be a *part* of this.

Note to Self: Don't leave gym back in the car all day when it's -27 outside. Shampoo has the consistency of ice cream when cold, and it's not pleasant to rub around on your head.

In good news though, I really am beginning to feel better because of the gym. There's this stairs machine that I often go on for 15 minutes. When I first started on it, it nearly *killed* me. And I'd have to really push myself for the last 5 minutes. Today though, when I looked down at the 10 minute mark, I was just beginning to feel winded. When I finished, my legs didn't even feel shaky. So I upped my time on the bike by 5 minutes, but I think next time, I'll up the stair time too. Go me.

Fandom-wise, know what really makes me annoyed? I know everyone has varying degrees of time available to be in fandom, but it drives me crazy when some people try and make light of their fandom embarrassment, by pointing to someone else and saying they need to get a life. ( It's really, really annoying )

So I seem to be ranting a lot lately... Sorry?

Het ship names in SGA all seem to be really stupid. Really, if it's not something that rolls easily off the tongue and leaves a clear indication of who is involved in the pairing, you're really better off just writing out names.

This was prompted by seeing someone refer to Sheppard/Carter as Sharter. At least it's easier to pronounce than Shweir. Also, I've never understood where Sparky and Spanky comes from. At all.

At least McKay's name lends itself more easily to the mashing up of names.
