This weekend is 3 Day Novel Podfic weekend and I am having far too much fun. I actually managed to get my podfic done in 2 days instead of 3, so I think I'll start a second one this afternoon. There was a minor freak out yesterday when I went to edit in my rerecords, only to realize that something had happened to my file and the beginning was totally distorted and sounded horrible but luckily I had been saving each individual file as well so was able to make a new masterfile that sounds ok. *phew*

I have been having so much fun on Twitter, there aren't even words. There are 4 of us doing 3 Day Novel Podfic (

cantarina,

sophinisba and

weimar27) and we've all be encouraging each other on Twitter (check out the hashtag #3DNPodfic).

bessyboo also joined in. I've casually known

bessyboo for a while now but it wasn't until recently that I started following her on Twitter. SHE IS NOW MY NEW FAVOURITE PERSON!!

While having a discussion about podfic, I made said "But we'll keep fighting, right?" Which lead to:

This, of course, started a trend and I had to make me own FOR PODFIC! picture:

I am ~~sad~~ proud to say that all I had to do to take that picture was grab a mic and move a chair (all other geeky props were either already on my person or were already in the living room). My geeky house, let me show you it.

Some of the other podficcers on Twitter did pictures as well (but they're locked). I totally think this should be a trend though and all podficcers should make one!

bessyboo also made me cover art for my 3 Day Novel Podfic which is so awesome I don't even have words!!! It was awesome enough that it's now my desktop picture, kicking out a slide show of hot Kris Allen pictures.

Who here has heard of 3 Day Novel? If you haven't, it's a novel writing contest (to get your novel published) where you have 3 days, over the Labour Day long weekend to write a novel.

I tried doing it 2 years ago (well, I was writing fanfic, so I wasn't participating in the actual contest part of it, just using the atmosphere and challenge to get some writing done). While I didn't finish the story I was writing I did manage to get 10K of it written over the weekend, it was pretty awesome.

There's going to be mad writing at the house this year for it, and I'm thinking trying it again myself.

Except, the thing is (and you guys may have noticed this ;) I'm more of a podficcer than I am a writer. So I was thinking of changing it from a 3 day novel writing weekend, so a 3 day novel podficcing weekend! I want to get at least 10K read and edited in a weekend!

Anyone want to join me?

It seems like forever since I've made a post just for the sake of posting. I haven't really been on LJ that much in the past year. I have been pretty active in Twitter if anyone wants to friend me there (I'm paraka12 over there).

I'm seriously thinking of giving up any claim to the thought of a RL from now until the end of the year and just devoting myself entirely to fannish things. God. I have issues with over commiting. Seriously.

Fannish things I'm currently working on:
-Running

multipodicity (things are kinda of quiet right now, but I'm anticipating some crazy pinch hits near it's end)

-Signed up for podbang. Twice *winces* I did it last year and it was awesome. Although this year I'm pretty much only into Kradam but I signed up as part of grou slashpad so I'm likely going to have to do something non-AI for that one.

-I offered myself up over at

help_pakistan

-Still slowly working on (this is not) a statement (

seperis mentioned tonight that she has about 50k written in sequels, so if I plan on podficing this 'verse, I better get my ass in gear). I'm hoping that when I go back to this I can get it to move a little more smoothly. I was having trouble getting some of the dialogue to work, since things that were easy to follow visually were getting a bit confusing in the podfic, but I spoke to

seperis about it at Vividcon and she gave me the go ahead to make edits to the text where needed. Yay! for extra dialog tags.

-I've also started to podfic Husband Revealing Magical Lemonade. When I asked permission, I mentioned I probably wouldn't have time until December/January but I just couldn't wait to get started.

-I've somehow managed to start organizing a multi person anthology podfic of

oldspice_kinkmeme fics. *blinks*

-Slashpad is also slowly working on a 100+K SGA podfic. I have no idea when it'll be done though. At this rate? Never.

-I spent last night trolling through the lastes

aianonlovefest prompts and picking a couple interesting ones out and may try my hand at one of them to get me into the groove of writing fic because next weekend is 3 day novel! and I think I'm going to try and get some of that Kradam love at first ~~sight~~ touch fic written.

So yes, I have a lot of fannish stuff on the go right now :S So when, at work, my boss sent out an email asking for people to do overtime, I just deleted it. Then she pulled me aside and was all "but you're the best at this, are you sure you can't make some time?" And because I have issues with over commiting, I agreed to take on an extra project for over time. Except I have no time for it! The only day this week I could do it was today. I was given about 200 lines to crossrefernce. In the two hours of overtime I did today, I got about 10 lines done. Kill me now. This project needs to be done next week and at this rate I'd have to give up sleep to get it done. But that's not everything. Monday, I'm leaving for Guelph straight after work because on Tuesday

raxhel is defending her Master's thesis! Which means I have Tuesday off. And Wednesday is the first day I'm volunteering at a place called Voice Print. So it's due Friday and I'll be able to work on it Thursday.
*sigh* Which means I'll likely spend this Sunday at work (I can't go in Saturday since I'm having friends over for a party).

Seriously, I'm so screwed.

Hmmm, should I do 3 Day Novel this year? I don't think I have any plans for that weekend and last year I did get a good chunk written. I'm not very good with the actually-sitting-down-and-writing thing so the 10K I got out was probably the most I've ever written of fic. Granted I got 10K in and hadn't even introduced one of the main characters yet. When I was talking to

diurnal_lee about 3 Day Novel a couple months ago, I joked that it could be an annual tradition for me to write bits of that fic every year for 3DN and maybe in a decade it'll actually be finished (it's kind of an epic story :S).

I totally could write that fic but I'm not really feeling it right now. I'm a little too in love with Kradam at the moment to write John/Cameron. Although, if I wanted to do a bit of both, I could write that Kradam/Terminator crossover idea I have.... Or I could write the one where love at first sight is a medical condition and the boys come down with it while on Idol... and don't notice.

I need to start thinking about this now because I'm going to need to have some kind of story line laid out before going into the weekend if I want to get anything out of it.

It's 12:30, why am I not sleeping?

So, technically I still have a couple hours to cram some writing in, but I've kind of given up, so thought I'd take a moment to write about the experience.

I'm stuck. Stuck like a giant stuck thing.

I was just about to start writing about terminators being reactivated to help out, when I realized I had brought up the PR aspect of it when discussing the pros and cons of reactivating them, but then was just going to skip it entirely in the actual implimentation. Not cool.

Now I'm trying to figure out the workings of a press conference in a post apocalyptic world. *headdesk*

God damn Terminator and it's convoluted timeline! *shakes fist* I want John's children to be younger than the timeline really allows. Would it be really mean and cruel of me to have John and Kate's first child (the one she's pregnant with in Salvation) die?

That seems so mean, but it'll make my story better. Except I should really mention that this first child died, and maybe change the name of one of the kids, since I'm pretty sure John would name his kids after his parents first. Maybe I can the 3rd child be named after Kate's father....

Oh god, visiting with family put me really far behind on my schedule. And now I'm tired and probably going to bed. :(

However John had finished all his official meetings for the day, gone on an existential walk and is now talking to Rodney McKay about reprogramming terminators. I did mention how this is a giant multi-fandom cross over fic, right?

Oh, I maybe should have said in my last post:

Things that have happened so far:
-John has had a talk with Halling.
-John has had a meeting with a character that started off as Robert Kinsey from SG-1 and ended up being Elizabeth Weir. It's a little sad that those characters can be kind of interchangeable. :-/3

I'm feeling a bit calmer now. I just had lunch and discussed things with

kronos999 and

diurnal_lee and have come to the conclusion that I'm just not going to be able to finish this fic this weekend, it's just too epic, but instead I'll work towards writing 10K a day so that I'll have a good start on it.

So, today is the first day of International 3 Day Novel Writing weekend. So far I have 4 pages written and still have to go to visit my family at some point today. I'm not panicking at all. I have no idea how I'm ever going to do this. :S

Gah! I'm sure there will be many flailey posts over the next 72 hours. If not here, then certinaly on my twitter.

And now I have the hiccups. Perfect.
