So I was wondering, do you guys have a fannish hero? Someone that you look up to, or think is super talented or who does things you think are awesome? Someone you maybe wish you could be like?

( I think my fannish hero is lunate8 )

lunate8 just has such awesome ideas and she follows through on them. She comes up with these outside-the-box ideas and just does them. I often come up with ideas like this, and want to do them, but they seem too hard, they'd take too much time, and I end up doing something that's fast and easy (because I'm all about the instant gratification). So lunate8 is such an inspiration to me because where I think about doing things, she actually does them. ♥ She's basically what I want to be when I grow up. :D

Guys! Guys, yesterday I tweeted that with yesterday's podfic I was 17 seconds short of having posted 15 hours of podfic so far this year and reena_jenkins, who is awesome made me this:

Hello Flist.

So I've been kind of MIA for a long time now. I can't promise I'm going to get back to reading my flist any time soon, but I do miss you.

Despite not being on my LJ much lately, it seems like I've been doing a lot of fannish stuff lately. As you've probably seen, I've started a podfic feedback exchange (which I should totally be working on right now). I started another podfic project too, but I'm not ready to talk about it yet since it's kind of huge and I don't know if I'll keep it up.

There's also been unnecessary drama in the local fandom group I'm a part of, ottawa_slashers. The mod has stopped coming to meetings and won't pass on the mod position, even though it's really needed and the whole group has asked her to. I think we're all just going to start a new group so we don't have to deal with this shit.

I've also signed up for help_haiti. This reminds me a lot of fandom_aid that I took part in back in 2005 to help with tsunami relief.

Quite a lot of awesome people have put their talents on auction, I highly suggest checking it out if you were thinking of donating money to help the people of Haiti.

ETA: Hmmm, there's a rather large misc section at help_haiti and I was thinking... this might be really cheesy or might be really fun, but I was thinking of maybe offering someone mail for a year. I mean, everyone likes to receive mail, and wouldn't it be fun to receive a bunch of post cards over an extended period of time? Would people be interested in that or is it just silly....

I've been meaning to update for a while but have been off LJ lately so never seem to get around to it. I've started following some link happy people on Twitter and seem to spend all my time reading the same news stories being reported by various different sources. *headdesk*

First of all, I'd like to thank geeklite, equusentric, mercury973, terribilita, munchkinofdoom, pbanda, kaaatie, keewick, ubiquitous_girl, aurora_84, the_muppet and astropixie for the snowflakes. I've never received a v-gift before so it was really fun to receive so many at once :D

In other news, I got a vidding computer yesterday!!! A few months back I started buying parts to make a super fast computer with vidding in mind, but found I was too cautious to put it together on my own. One of my dad's former employees likes playing with this stuff so my dad asked him if he'd help out. I got the finished product back yesterday! I don't have a desk to put it on, so I haven't had much of a chance to play around with it but hopefully in 2010 I can get my vidding fu back. I have a couple vid ideas in the back of my head already. :D

My room mates continue to be awesome. Last night I was talking with diurnal_lee about fic and brought up one fic that I like, but like as bad fic:

paraka: The one where Rodney's a virgin! And John rapes him gently! And then there's mpreg and Rodney crying because people think he's fat and then there's more crying over blowjobs! And then there was a tax!fic sequel.
diurnal_lee: Stop! Send me the link.
paraka: ...You want to read it?
diurnal_lee: Well after you sell it like that!
paraka: ...That was me selling it? *shrugs* *sends link*

Then I listened to her various OMGs and I can't read this! and WTF!?s and made her tell me which part she was at for each one (so it took her a while to read). And after all her frustration and squeeling while reading it, I asked her if she like the fic and she admitted, that yes, she did, despite all the badness of it.

This led to a discussion of the various SGA mpreg fics we've read, and this sgastoryfinders post. And this request from someone else, which, dudes, you have no idea how hard it was for me to stop at the one mpreg request, because there were suddenly a bunch of others that I just *had* to read again, like the one where Rodney gets pregnant and they're not sure if it's John's or Kavanagh's, and I think there was a scene where John was apologizing for getting Rodney into this situation and Rodney was like, "You only need to apologize if it's not yours, because there is no way I want to be carrying Kavanagh's baby!" (luckily, someone provided a link for this one in that second request! :D) Or a different mpreg that was told from, I think it was Zelenka's POV where the rest of the science staff had cornered him saying he has to confront Rodney about going on maternity leave since being pregnant just made him worse in the lab. There was also art of Rodney in a red moumou. ♥ (I still can't find that last one, although I was able to find the art by spaggel....)

You know, I've been drifting away from the SGA fandom for a while now, but looking back, I don't know if any other fandom is going to live up to the awesomeness that SGA has.


Hmm, I know there were things I wanted to say in this post. Other than mpreg. But damned if I can remember them. Maybe I'll just finish with a warning that I'll be posting some PSAs soon.

So, things have mostly been silent from me for, pretty much, forever. At first I was just going to take some time off from journaling while all my crazy house stuff was going down but it kind of ended up dragging. :S

I kind of got into a completely different routine at the new house, what with my awesome roommates. I feel especially crappy about it though, since I had just added bunch of new friends through the Terminator friending meme.

Anyways, I know that there's no way I can catch up on 4 months of back entries so, how have things been going flist? Anything major in your life or fandom that I've missed? I'd love to hear from you :)

Personally, things have been settling well in the new house. I've been feeling super creative, surrounded by fangirls, and I might actually take up writing if I can ever finish anything. I just came back from a week's vacation and am sad to be back at work. Oh, and I've been totally sucked into Merlin fandom. :)

My cold, is getting worse. Much worse. My lungs hurt. I was feeling dizzy at work. When I got home, I fell asleep and slept over an hour.

Also, I'm having seriously weird dreams. I had one this morning where the_muppet was a zoologist. I think she was stalking me, I'm not sure. I just remember making a run for it with a pair of iguanas. Why I was dreaming about the_muppet I'm not sure, I certainly don't think of her as a stalker :P

I had another one, where I was at the Sydney Opera House, watching a *movie*. During the credits, music was playing, and Charlie from Numb3rs was standing up beside me dancing to it. Dancing really, really badly, with lots of flaily arms.

The sad thing is, I wasn't even on any funky drugs. :(
