Why am I so bad at keeping up with my flist? I'm in the process of catching up after my weekend away.

I took today and tomorrow off work. December is pretty much already booked full so I figured I might as well take some me time. Actually I figured I should take some time to work on podfic since amplificathon's Podbang challenge is coming due next week. I'm currently only about half way through (that's half read and edited). Tomorrow I'm going to have to really buckle down and work on it. I'll probably have to devote some of me weekend to it too :S

I'm super excited about the results however. I hope that some good Merlin podfic comes from it. I haven't been listening to podfic nearly as much lately because I've been in such a Merlin mood and there's so little podfic for it.

You may have noticed that I skipped the week of September 15-21. That was done on purpose since apparently I didn't read much that week and of the few fics I did touch non of them were really rec worthy. I appear to have made up for it by the next week however...

So, as promised here's my first rec post! I decided to do it retroactively, so here's for the last week of August. I did a big Merlin rec list not too long ago for darlulu so there might be some repeats in here.

I should also note that one of my common ways of finding fics is through fic finding comms, so I kind of have lost my filter when it comes to spoiling fics. So if you don't like being spoiled for a fic, my recs might make you unhappy.

Because a lot of my fic comes in podfic form I've listed the title as a link to the fic but have added links in brackets beside with links to the podfic. I listen to everything as MP3s but I've included links to the M4B form as well for anyone interested in the podbook format.

Oh God, this took me all night and it was just a few days worth of fic! :S

So, last night before watching SGU, we decided to get drunk tonight. Except diurnal_lee is pucking right now, and Merlin w;vmas aweosne but there wasn't enough sexing but Aruther totally knows abotu Merling, he has too.

Oh and Nimwey or however you spell her mane isn't alway email, sometimes just decing but not actrually hot at all.

And someone died. I'tm going to have to go to their funeral, bnut rigth now I just need to go to sleep because I gt far more drunk than kronos999. blah, we need tp get jer driml amd sidime her.

Sorry if I'm hitting the wrong keys, I'm kind of drunk.

So I was talking with darlulu and offered to give her some Merlin fic recs. The list got a little too long for a comment, so here's a post for anyone who's interested.

-That Shall Achieve the Sword by astolat
This is a really awesome. It's a sequel to Beltane and Coming of Age, which were both interesting, but I find that the third story is by far the best (and you could probably get away without reading the other two stories if you wanted). Super Powerful Merlin FTW!

I like this fic for a couple reasons. I like how Uther is portrayed, as being a hard but still good father, and the hints that he wasn’t always so hard, and also, just the premise. Arthur kissing everyone in the hopes of finding one to love but completely forgetting Merlin, who grows steadily more jealous.

-Happily Ever After, My Arse by hackthis
Merlin isn’t the only one to talk to the dragon. He’s also not the only one questioning how his destiny can be with someone like *that*.

-Tale of the Sea Serpent and Job Orientation by seperis
The sea serpent one is a prequel to Job Orientation. They were both fun fics. I loved Arthur wanting a pet sea serpent, and also Arthur being so stubbornly loyal to Merlin.

Because Arthur as a mother hen is never not fun.

-Peach, Plum, Pear by sweetestdrain
Future fic where Merlin left long ago and Arthur misses him. I liked this one because it showed how there can be the tangled love stories with Merlin, Arthur, Gwen and Lancelot but still have them be happy.

-Warlock by aftertherain
This is such a heartbreaking story of Merlin’s magic being revealed to Uther and Arthur trying to help Merlin in what ways he can around Uther.

-A Thousand Different Skins by tarayith
Merlin keeps turning into various animals. This is really cute and sweet and funny by turns.

-Favourite by astolat
This is just such an awesome fic. I love that politics of it, and how Arthur’s way of getting back at Merlin is to buy him presents. :P

-The Play's the Thing by shinybug
This fic made me laugh so much. Older ladies trying to seduce Arthur, Merlin’s “help” to dissuade them and Arthur just generally being clueless.

-Lord Drake's Bequest by pennyplainknits (Podfic, read by pennyplainknits)
This is a really cute modern day harlequin style story where they're forced to get married and the act stops being an act (I kind of adore harlequin style, so there may be a few of these).

-Defenders Of the Realm by lamardeuse (Podfic read by fayjay)
This is a fun modern day AU where pretty much everyone but Merlin is a police officer and there's still magic and the slash dragon.

-Drastically Redefining Protocol by rageprufrock
I’m pretty sure everyone in the Merlin fandom has already rec’ed this fic but whatever, it’s worth rec’ing. Arthur as the Prince of Wales never stops being an awesome idea. I did feel that the end of the fic was a bit rushed but it didn’t stop me from staying up all night reading it when I first discovered it.

-We’re a Storm in Someone Else’s Teacup by paperclipbitch
This fic, combined with Defenders of the Realm made me realize that I adore modern AUs where magic still exsists. This one is particularly awesome, where Merlin meets Morgana in a support group for people with super powers.
